Great Pod! + Question for Mailbag
Hey Guys, Love the show! Been listening since it started with SNY and love the Knowledge and honesty. One quick down on the farm question: Are you at all worried about Brandon Sproats low K rate? He seems to be pitching much better but only 8 Ks in last 14.1 innings (and 1 in 6 this last start)? Thanks

    Mailbag Question: Nimmo batting cleanup
Hey guys, love the pod! Is it just me, or is it time to break away from betting Nimmo 4th, or even 5th? It seems like it’s really changed his approach for the worst, making him an all or nothing guy, and perhaps moving him down to 7th can allow him to be a spark plug for the bottom of the lineup, and once he’s right, Mendy can move him back up in the order.

    Nimmo
Awesome show love listening. Very suprised but loved hearing Connor talk football with bobbby as well. Do you guys think taking Nimmo out of lead off changed his approach for worse….

An Objective & Enjoyable Mets Podcast
A wonderful podcast, with two intelligent and passionate hosts. Joe & Connor are genuinely sweet people, and they have created a safe haven for all Mets fans to freely discuss their favorite team. A comment & question on the 2025 team so far: Luisangel Acuna has proven to be a major league caliber player; he has elite speed, above average athleticism and defense, defensive versatility, & is able to put the ball in play consistently. He is absolutely the future 2B or CF of the Mets team. Thus far he has thoroughly outplayed Brett Baty, and is simply a more impactful player. Acuna is capable of being consistent a 2.0 WAR player, that can play Gold Glove Caliber defense & that can steal 30-40 bases at a minimum My question revolves around the Mets lineup configuration: With the offensive inconsistencies, that the Mets currently have so far; what would the ideal lineup be in your opinion, when McNeil & Alvarez return? Here’s mine: Lindor, Soto, Alonso, Winker, Vientos, Nimmo, Alvarez/Torrens, McNeil/Baty, & Acuna/Taylor Have a 4-6 of Vientos, Marte, & Nimmo, when Marte is the DH against lefties, and keep the rest of the lineup the same. What are your thoughts? Thank you & Much Love ❤️

    Best Mets Podcast
Thank you guys for keeping us hard core Mets fan updated with the team specially with the farm system. Some people don’t realize how important is to grow talent from within! I have 2 questions: Are we concerned about Vientos slow start? Pete is protecting Soto but who’s going to protect Pete if not Vientos? Also: can you guys find out where Lindor got that sick multicolor gemstone Nuckles? Is so sick! LFGM!

Good start but had we had a weak schedule ?
We have had a good start even though our bats have been cold but could it be because the teams we have played are not legit ? I know we have to beat whomever is put in front of us. Seems like are schedule is going to get tougher in the next week or two.

#1 Sports Podcast and it’s not even close!
The Mets-knowledge alone by these two without question puts this podcast above all. A must listen for all Mets fans! My question is, with Siri out for an unexpected period and Taylor’s troubles. Following a Jeff McNeil return, if Acuna continues to produce is there a world we see McNeil in LF again and Nimmo back in Center? It’s obvious the issues with the team right now aren’t so much defense related, but hitting and RISP. So do we prioritize bats with our pitchers success? Thank you guys, LFGM!

A must listen for Mets fans
Hey guys, love the show, listen every week. Down on the farm question: Seems like recent draft pick Eli Serrano III is tearing the cover off the ball to start the year. Can you go over his background a bit and what your expectations are for him? Thanks for the pod!

    My favorite sports podcast
Joe DeMayo and Conor Rogers are so knowledgeable about the sport and about the team, and above all, they are true Mets fans. You can feel their love for the team while learning a ton about it. Especially appreciate Joe’s knowledge of minor league baseball and his insights into the farm system.

By Far the Best Mets Podcast
Hi Guys. All of your accolades are well deserved. Never miss a show. While I would prefer Alcantara at the trade deadline because of team control, I think we can get Cease without sacrificing as many assets. If he proves a good fit, we should have the edge in free agency. Agree or disagree, or better option? Also, what are your career aspirations? Full time broadcasting for MLB team? Major league scouting/development, etc.? As always, keep up the great work! LGM! Joe

    A Spot for Canario
Hey guys, Alexander Canario really came on strong toward the end of camp with the two-homer, 5-RBI game against Miami on Sunday that opened some eyes. As the Opening Day roster is finalized, is there any way in your estimation that he can make the team? He definitely won’t pass through waivers and the Mets could always try to trade him and get something for him rather than let him walk, but he’s shown some real power that might play off the bench. Could Acuna possibly start in Triple A to accommodate Canario at least temporarily or does that leave the roster with not enough flexibility in the infield?

    Citi field Naming Rights
With the Nationals selling the naming rights to their stadium, it got me thinking about Citi Field. The 20yr partnership with Citi Bank is set to expire in 2029. If both sides are open to continuing, do you think Steve/Alex re-up? Or do you see them trying to bring in a new sponsor, especially with outside the stadium potentially being built up?

    Shout out to Sean Reid-Foley
Love the show! Listen with my 8-year old son who is a die-hard Mets fan and we both wanted to give a shout out to Sean Reid-Foley for spending time with the fans this past Monday in Port St. Lucie - he was out there a long time signing stuff for the kids which was great to see. Would love to hear your thoughts on Sean and/or others who are the best candidates for surprise breakouts in the 2025 bullpen.

Does Frankie Montas injury make it more or less likely that the Mets trade Marte and Acuna in order to acquire another pitcher? Thanks for a great pod. I’m new listener and new fan. Got into the Mets because of my son and can’t get enough Mets content. Let’s go Mets! Tristan

    Great stuff
Guys, given cost and fragility of starting pitchers, is anyone bucking conventional wisdom of “throw as hard as you can for as long as you can”? Ronnie and Smoltz and other experts long questioned the stats and theory leading to 5 inning starters. Not only old timers, but Verlander recently always saved velocity for later innings. Are any organizations revisiting conventions that don’t look so wise? if pitchers are told length isn’t valued, look what you get. kev from sarasota

A family favorite + QO question
Excellent pod, guys - a family favorite for us! One question for ya: I love the Polar Bear, but might he be overestimating the impact that his Qualifying Offer had on his market? Everything has a price, and front offices are sharp. Is the compensatory pick worth $5M? $10M? What impact do we think it had on what contract Pete would have gotten without the QO? At the start of all this, we would have expected him to get a longer, higher dollar deal than Christian Walker’s; did the QO really impact things that much? Thanks, as always.
  • Beast in Farmingdale
    Underrated Soto Effect
Soto in the 3rd spot maximizes his protection effect. Alonso, Vientos, or Nimmo hitting before him would see better pitches, enhancing their performance. Batting Soto 2nd negates this strategic advantage. What do you think?

    Great Mets insights
I really enjoy the way Connor and Joe go about dissecting the Mets farm system and off season plans. They work great together and I’m excited to hear their spring training coverage! Question: would a top prospect swap be out the question? It’s no secret the Mets currently have a surplus of solid infield prospects- is there a team out there that has a surplus of starting pitching prospects that could be a match? Thanks!
  • Alex, Queens
    Pete!
I’m relieved Pete is back there’s no question they’re a better team with him at 1st. But I am also concerned. Not about any lingering hard feelings about the contract negotiations, but about the pressure Pete may feel protecting Soto. If we get to May and teams are consistently pitching around or walking Soto to get to Pete because he’s not hitting, you can cue the boo birds and all the talking heads on the radio saying he’s not clutch and then it can all spiral from there. Am I right to be worried? Or do you think the home run against the Brewers slayed a lot of those demons for Pete and for Mets fans?

    Top notch
Top notch podcasting guys, thanks for keeping us in the loop with our beloved Mets. Question: Jeff McNeil has been much maligned by Mets fans over the past couple of years, but he’s one of my favorites. What are the upside and downside scenario’s with Jeff, and where do you think his season will truly land?
  • I kills hit
    Pitching
I know it’s far fetched but why are the Mets so opposed or not looking at giving Trevor bauer a league minimum for 1 year i know he brings baggage but he’s still above average and cheap to add depth.

    Love the Show
Hey big fan of the pod. Question…how come no teams are showing interest in Jose Quintana this offseason? Proven vet and he was amazing down the stretch last year. I don’t think he’d cost all that much, what gives? Also, thoughts on bringing back Brooks Raley?
  • greg_oco
    Vientos/Baty
There’s been so much talk about if we don’t get Alonso, then we’ll move Mark Vientos to first and give Baty another go or find another option at third. I want to know why we’re entertaining this idea so much? To me it seems like Vientos has earned his spot at third base, at least for now, and the last thing we want to do is take a guy going into his sophomore season where he still has to prove it again a little bit and make him learn another position. That’s crazy! Shouldn’t this just be Baty’s second chance to find a spot on this team - this time at first base - and if it doesn’t work out then we look for another solution at first? Why are we moving Mark Vientos around to give Baty or some other question mark a shot at third. Let the guy build off a great rookie season and provide him with some stability at his position.

    Love the Show - LGM
Hey all, love the show and enjoy all the discussion from the major league roster down to prospects in the DSL. Mailbag Question: what do you guys think the Mets ultimately do with Jose Butto? If he needs 2-3 days rest between bullpen outings then I feel like it’s not worth it to have him in the pen and he should just prepare to be starting pitcher depth (I have very little confidence in both Peterson and Montas).

Thank you guys so much for the outstanding work you do. Big fan of CR (shoutout to Badlands keeping me sane) and Joe. Question: With the signing of Tanner Scott, LA becomes more and more of a juggernaut, with seemingly boundless resources. After what seemed like a breeze to a WS title last year, LA has gotten even better. Is there any point at which Stearns may consider reevaluating his conservative free agent approach? How do the Mets get past LA when they are willing to give players contracts the Mets won’t? Thank you!

    Spring Training
Great show! I have two questions: 1. Why would the Mets not want to give Starling Marte a real long look at DH? He seems like the type of player who benefits from consistent play (everyday or nearly everyday), but he is starting to show his age a little with the injuries. Slotting him in at DH would give him an opportunity to play everyday while saving his legs. He could occasionally spell Soto in right too. Now that Winker is on the team, I feel like Marte won’t get the look at DH that he deserves. Thoughts? Question 2: I’m going to be in St Lucie this spring for the first time ever. I’ve never been to a spring training game. Any recommendations about to do while I’m there. I’m naturally going to catch a game or two, but what else can/should a Mets fan do? I’m open to any recommendations. Places to eat? Things to see? What to do while in the area? Thanks guys, keep up the great show!

    Pivot
Hey guys, Love the show! If Pete signs with another team. do you think the Mets would go all in for Munetaka Murakami, if he gets posted next year? He is able to play both 3rd and 1st.

    Pete’s Contract
Why Not 5 Years? HI Joe and Connor. Great podcast. I’m confused regarding the reluctancy to sign Pete to a longer contract and here’s why. They just signed Soto to a contract that is giving him at least 5 years at the end where chances are he won’t even be playing ball anymore and if he is certainly not at the level he is now.. So what is difference if you sign Pete for 5 years, and only get 3 out of him, possibly more as a DH.

The best pod!!! - with a question
I never miss an episode! My question is if the Mets are lucky enough to get a call from Roki’s agent who says he will sign with them for the slot max, are they able to trade assets to acquire more international signing bonus money? Are there any limits? So they could sign both Roki and the SS they have been associated with?

    Perfect Compromise with Pete
Fair offer that meets Pete’s wants and the Mets needs…. 26/26/opt out/20x4 with 1/3 deferred and opt outs each of those last 4 years. Pete gets a 6 year 132 contract on paper. Mets get the good chance it’s only a 2 year deal. The opt outs and deferrals on the back end entice Pete to opt out late in the deal and the deferred money is enough to make it easy to cut him loose if necessary

Best place to go for all things Mets!
Hey guys Happy New Year! With all the discussion about Pete Alonso and 1st Base, there’s been little mention of Ryan Clifford. Will he get a shot at 1B with the Mets?

    Emergency Podcast
I like your podcast, but why do you use the name Emergency Podcast for unscheduled shows. It doesn’t seem to me that there is anything about baseball, a sport, that should be labeled an emergency. I would suggest something like Special Podcast would be more appropriate. However it’s your show so I guess you can call it what you want. I’ll be listening.

Great work + potential SP option?
Love the podcast, keep up the great work Connor and Joe! Quick question I had a thought on a potential SP option I feel like is not being talked about enough. Early reporting in the offseason said the Twins were looking to slash payroll due to their local tv situation. What if the Mets made a move for Pablo Lopez? Might be able to get him for not too much of a return if they take on the full contract, but curious to hear your thoughts on this.

    Best Mets podcast
Great show which covers the top Mets headlines weekly, and also gives further into the organization and farm system. Question: The cheaper teams in this league are known to hold back their prospects in order to “manipulate” their service time. Obviously with Steve Cohen we don’t except the Mets to do this with a prospect like Drew Gilbert or Jett Williams. However, given what we know about how Stearns views long-term pitching, is it possible we see more hesitation to start the clock early with pitching prospects like Brandon Sproat or otherwise? Especially if it doesn’t seem the big league team absolutely needs the boost? The idea would be to maximize access to young, cheap, talented pitching when possible. Thanks guys!

Long Time First Time - Mailbag Question
Coming off a magical NLCS run and landing Soto in free agency this feels like the year for me to cross a visit to Mets spring training off my bucket list. When would you say is the best part of Mets spring training to make the trip and any other recommendations or dos and don’t you got for me? Love the pod LGM

    Best Mets podcast
Let me start off with I was waiting for you guys to go live last night and your show did not disappoint. Y’all have the best Mets podcast I do have a mailbag question for you. Everyone is talking about Cohen, Cohen, Cohen but is there any thought by Sterns that maybe this is an overpay? So far at least with pitchers he’s avoiding big contracts and I’m curious if he was all in the way Cohen was. Isn’t it Sterns job to run the team and I feel like he isn’t being talked about with Soto.
  • InStearnsWeTrust
    Mail bag question
I think i’m starting to think Alonso wont be coming back, and here’s why tell me if you guys agree or not. He does not fit into Stearns’ playbook, Stearns has been going after Sinker ball pitchers, sinkers leads to groundballs. What’s the best way to get the most out of those kinds of pitchers? Good infield defense, I dont think Stearns wants 2 below avg fielders at both corners. I think he can get away with moving Vientos to first and for 3rd I think he would go after Adames and secure that left side with him and lindor. As for 2nd can either be mix of Mcneil or Acuna. Love the show boys keep up the good work.

    Great Mets podcast!
Love this podcast! Both hosts are knowledgeable & professional. Connor is very engaging. Joe is well-informed. Appreciate that they stick to baseball. Only other Mets podcast I listen to is “Why Am I a Mets Fan” because those ladies are informed & professional, too. So tired of hearing bros ranting & raving about their lives & opinions. Thanks for being better, guys!

    Ronny Mauricio
Connor and Joe, With so much focus understandably being given to the free agent signings to come and the rise of pitching prospects, it seems Ronny Mauricio has been mostly forgotten about after his year was lost to injury. What do you think we can expect from him in the upcoming season and where do you see him fitting in on the team in the years to come? Thanks, Nick F.

    5 Stars - Great Pod
Would you let Pete walk if it meant we made a run at Vlad next year or traded for him? I feel like that would make sense from a cohen / stearns investment standpoint. He’s younger by 5 years. What do you guys think?

The Best Podcast For A Mets Fan
The Mets Pod is by far the most interesting, informative, and fun baseball podcast I have ever listened to. Of course, as a Mets fan, I am probably pretty biased in that regard. Nor have I listened to many baseball podcasts aimed at fans of other teams. However, if you are a Mets fan, you are probably just as biased as I am and I expect you will enjoy the Mets Pod as much as I do. Question for the next Mets Pod. Please feel free to edit/shorten my question if you feel that is appropriate. Given how many Mets players and prospects can play multiple positions, what is the likelihood that some combination of Mark Vientos, Luisangel Acuna, Ronny Mauricio, Jeff McNeil, and Brett Baty will go into Spring Training competing for jobs at second, third, center-field, and DH? Acuna could win the center-field job outright, while McNeil could play in Left while Brandon Nimmo moved back to Center. Drew Gilbert and Jett Williams will be just a phone call away in the event of injury or bad slumps. Hopefully, of course, Juan Soto will win the job in Right-Field.

    Top Notch Mets Podcasting Material!
I’ve been listening to Connor and Joe for about 2 seasons and I’ve been hella impressed by their wealth of knowledge in various fields as well as the passion they express as Mets fans when on the air. Hoping this hot stove season brings a lot of good reasons to tune in! Question for the mailbag: Hey Joe, Dylan White of Baseball America in the past day or so rated the Mets minor league hitting collective at 28th, pretty low imo. I know we had a ton of good hitting prospects out with injuries this year, but it seemed even before those injuries that we were pretty top heavy and barren in the lower levels. I’ve heard of very few high average or power hitters catching on and the parks below AA are notoriously un-hitter friendly. How do we fix this? Are there any specific coaches or hitting instructors you would target to join us in the lower levels to move the farm in the right direction? Or is this just a result of bad drafting over the past few seasons? Thanks and keep up the good fight, dudes!

Look forward to this show every week
I started listening about a year and a half ago when y'all interviewed Jim Callis prior to the 2023 draft and have been a weekly listener since - this show truly enhances my experience of both the baseball season and the offseason. Mailbag question (11/8/24): A lot of attention is (rightly!) being paid to the free agent market, but there are a lot of interesting trade pieces available, too. I was wondering about your thoughts on particular players you think the Mets might target. (A name that stuck out to me personally was Pete Fairbanks!) Relatedly, are there any prospects besides the obvious that you would consider untouchable?
  • Gingerpanda31
    Mailbag Question
5 stars no doubt about it! Mailbag Question: Who’s a dark horse for the Mets to go after in the offseason? I know Mullins has been brought up on the show, but assuming the Mets throw money at some bigger names (hopefully Soto), who could make a splash without necessarily breaking the bank?
