I have been listening for several years (!!) at this point, and this is definitely my favorite trivia podcast. Jon’s gameplay is creative, funny, and satisfying! Well recommended.

    A great trivia quiz!
I found this podcast via Pod Quiz (another good trivia quiz) last week. John’s questions are fantastic, his categories are very creative, and his sense of humor is brilliant. Strongly recommend!

    Original, quirky quizzes
This podcast is well worth adding to your regular listening: no advertising, no chit-chat among presenters who think they’re more entertaining than they are: just the challenge of questions, with a host with a whimsical, witty, very British sense of humor. And these are not just ordinary questions. Jon is a talented musician, and often employs sound-editing technology to create quiz questions that delight as well as puzzle. I’m particularly fond of “False Instruments,” where you try to identify a segment of a pop song that has been rendered in sound effects like “cat” and “traditional Chinese instruments,” and “Broken Karaoke,” where the vocal track for one song is laid over the karaoke track for a different song. I was also impressed when the audio clues were of Jon playing songs on his ukulele. As a person born on the cusp of Boomer and Gen X, and thus rapidly aging out of pop culture, I appreciate that Jon makes an effort to include a wide variety of question types (despite the favorite categories I described, it’s not all name-that-tune) and to draw from a variety of eras for his movie and music questions. I do a lot of quizzing (pub trivia twice a week, Learned League, PodQuiz, etc), and Quiz Cupboard is definitely among the very best.

    I Laugh Out Loud
I followed this podcast after Jon guest-hosted on Podquiz, and I’m glad I did. He cracks me up, and any host who both correctly uses “criterion” as a singular noun and chooses “drums and goats” as a musical instrument has my vote for a more than pleasant way to pass the time while I’m walking my dog.
