musicsmith14Great interviews! So many great interviews with lots of people connected to the Blue Jays, including players, coaches, and more. Keep up the good work Mike!

Ballpark NerdSolid weekly podcast for all things Blue JaysI’ve been a fan of Mike since his days in the Jays booth. Deep Left Field is a great listen! Mike expects the best from the Jays and calls out the management team that has them looking to win games 0-0. Now where I get up in arms is the Billy Wagner is a Hall of Famer monologue. He blew G2 of the 06 NLCS and allowed runs in G6. He wasn’t trusted in G7 in a tied game. The HOF bar is too low. Great podcast Mike!

ShwolfeShapiro & Atkins interviewsThank you for your podcasts! Curious, why do most reporters throw such softball questions to these guys? Realize Shapiro cut you off because he didn’t want to answer you. Why not ask what you stated in the opening of your last podcast: Why they believe their track record has been good despite the regression , and a lack of a single playoff game? Seems these guys believe mediocrity justifies them keeping their jobs. While I agree no one wants to see people lose their jobs, we want to win more! These guys have had almost a decade here, and have the gall to say “they’re still learning?” We have had enough of losing, and want a new front office stat!

M Bradley OliverGeddy and BaseballMike, thanks for the interview…my first podcast listen. As a huge fan of baseball (Royals!) and Rush (Geddy Lee), your left field was right up my alley. Interesting story from Geddy’s book tour in Chicago; I was lucky enough for him to take my submitted questions. One was, “who was better, Mike Schmidt or George Brett?” After defending the cases for each, Brett came out on top! Just wanted to share with you and say Thanks to Geddy to help settle an argument with a lifelong friend! Anyway, good luck getting the Blue Jays front office situation ironed out!. Rock on!

WideBenKnowledgeable and level-headedIn a moment when social media has created the manic-depressive sports fan, Mike is a breath of calm and calculated fresh air. He’s been a comforting voice for most of my Bluejay fan life, and especially at times where the team is in consistent not where they need to be. Thanks for all you do!
-
martinellormanwonderful podcast, need to know more about the manThis is easily my favorite podcast about the Toronto Blue Jays. It keeps me up to speed with everything that's happening with Toronto's favorite baseball team! My only qualm is that I would like to know more about the man behind it. The host, Mike Wilner, seems like a really cool dude and I would welcome hearing more about his personal life, his career, and his backstory. A little more content from the host would go a long way to making this my favorite podcast on the planet!

realLMDeep knowledgeI’m a fairly new baseball fan, and the Blue Jays became my favorite team after a certain knuckleballer came to town. I appreciate Mike’s deep well of knowledge to put things into context. When players move to different teams or managers and coaches have a history somewhere else, Mike reminds us, and he does it well. He’s prepared, fair, appreciative, and his love for baseball is apparent. Thanks, Mike! Hope you stick around sharing interviews and valuable observations, while continuing to keep some of those hotheaded Jays fans grounded! I love learning more about baseball from Mike and his interviews. Go, Canada! Okay Blue Jays! With love from, America (Lori M.)

micknasoWell rounded and informativeI’m a latecomer to Deep Left Field but have quickly come to appreciate just how good of a podcast this is. Wilmer does a great job with his interviews and you can tell that he really connects with people. His thoughts on the Jays aren’t through rose coloured glasses; he is critical when he needs to be, and calm when others might be hyperbolic. A must listen for Blue Jays fans.

Dr. Dave M.Great listenOne of my favorite podcasts and definitely my favorite baseball podcast. I often disagree with Mike’s opinions but cannot disagree with his passion, knowledge, and love of the game. Enjoying catching up on episodes I’ve missed while anxiously awaiting any exciting Bluejays’ news. Happy new year Mike and looking forward to another year of Bluejays baseball.

TeetersrusNot greatMuch better Jays podcasts out there and this guy is just the sourest man that is no full of himself. So angry too

Canuck living in USHit it out of the parkI wish the Jays could hit it out of the park the way this podcast does.

nrichar2Best Blue Jays PodcastLove the weekly recap (measured Thursday to Wednesday of course) and hear some great player interviews from the dugout!

TAL512Expat Blue Jays fanI rarely review podcasts but following Mike’s response to the Bass affair I feel compelled. Baseball specifically and sports in general can be enjoyable to watch. It provides players an opportunity to elevate the game whether it is players giving away their kit to kids or their time to the Jays Foundation or the Winter Tour. Bass crossed the line and elevated himself (again) in such a bad way. I consider myself an ally and I have pride (no pun intended) acknowledging that. Bass is an obstacle and the Jays should cut him lose as actions have consequences. Mike’s commentary was thoughtful and inspired, much like the regular baseball content and interviews. Keep up the superb work. Todd, Minneapolis

BaseballFan!Just UnsubscribedI’ve enjoyed the podcast since it’s inception but unsubscribed yesterday. I watch sports, in part, to get away from our terribly divided society. I understand you need to comment on the Bass situation but how about focusing on what he did, impact to team, etc. The baseball angle. Was totally turned off by your lengthy social commentary. It’s not even that I disagree. But thought this was a baseball podcast. I’m out.

SV_AtlasMike is a gem and so is this podcastSo grateful to have Mike and DLF. This podcast, unsurprisingly, is really great. Mike is a fantastic interviewer and has some really great guests. It’s clear they respect Mike and you’ll walk away having learned something each episode. Mike loves the Jays and the sport and it’s great we still get to hear him. This podcast is a must listen each week. Thanks Mike, keep up the great work.

Bermuda BrockDLF ReviewA very good listen. Great guests and I learn something about the Jays every pod.
-
TylerembkeLove MikeMiss jays talk, great to still hear your voice, I sure do miss hearing morons call in with bad takes and hearing Mike rationally argue against them. I wish he would do a call in segment with a handful of random people.
-
Lila1200Life long Jays fan in FloridaI love your podcast! Your guests are great and I enjoy the conversations, especially with the players who don’t get much tv time.
-
dkobe8Long distance jays fanGreat podcast. As a blue Jay fan not living in Toronto, this helps me stay connected to the team because I can't just turn on the radio for some jays talk. One thought, maybe you could have insiders from other cities (like Mike ferrin) come on and do a segment during the off season to preview their cities' team. I think it would be interesting specificly to hear about the teams the jays haven't faced in a few years but will face this year with the new schedule.
-
CheppenkoTotal Pro!Unbelievable pod! Mike you are so very knowledgeable and down to earth on recognizing the way fans over analyze everything and I feel you don’t do that. Pretty sure this is why the players feel comfortable talking to you.
-
trumplover45Screw the JaysYou guys think you can just invade a poor franchises stadium? What a bunch of imbeciles you are. Anyone that is within the Toronto organization or any fan of the Blue Jays can kiss my armpits
-
flagramp1st of the 22 seasonNow I know where you are. Thank goodness you are still deeply involved with the Blue Jays, now via The Toronto Star. A good friend in Toronto, Mike Toccacelli gave me the heads-up and told me to tune in. I’ll be a regular listener from Destin Florida. It’ll make my season even better. Just now tuning in to the Saturday A’s game - season game 7. Lots of great guests, deep conversations, well worth the investment. I too remember an event after an Orioles game at the Rogers Centre, that might have happened and that might have been memorable. If I was there I might have gotten a hit off of a big league pitcher too. That would have been a special memory.
-
JsXtmJays Talk but even betterI’ve been following Mike Wilner since the mid 2010s when he was the host of Jays Talk, and through his stint as the radio broadcaster for the Blue Jays (which ended too soon!) through his new podcast. If you are a fan of Blue Jays baseball, then you really ought to listen to this podcast. Its longform interviews are totally different from Mike’s previous work, but he has new and different guests every week, all of whom have interesting stories to share and a different perspective on the game. Congrats on a great first year!
-
Blue Jays and Baseball fanStick to baseball!I really have a love/hate relationship with this podcast. I love the baseball analysis Mike gives, as well as all the great guests he has the privilege of interviewing. Mike was an amazing broadcaster with the Blue Jays and the broadcasts just aren’t the same without him. On the other hand, Mike spends way too much of the time on the podcast giving his political opinions. If we wanted to listen to political commentary, we would be listening to a podcast from CBC or CTV, not a *sportswriter* from the Toronto Star. People want to follow sports so that they can get a break from all the chaos in the world.
-
HealthyRutThis is Deep Left Field. I’m your host, Mike Wilner.I love the Toronto Blue Jays, and Mike Wilner is the media personality whose opinions I value most about the team. His commitment to churning out weekly episodes, even during the offseason and even during a lockout, is much appreciated. One quick thing: Even though it is very obvious who is hosting the podcast or who is being interviewed, Mike will often take time in the middle of the podcast to say something like, “This is Deep Left Field. We’re here talking to Matt Bushman.” It reminds me of the Tim Meadows “Perspectives” sketch from SNL where Tim’s character would spend more time saying, “In case you’re just joining us, this is Perspectives. I’m your host, Lionel Osborn” than he would actually interviewing the guest haha
-
playtayaA legend returns to the mic!For almost 20 years the Blue Jays airways were in the hands of Mike Wilner. A legend behind the mic with a voice I could listen to for hours. NOW he has this awesome podcast with some seriously incredible guests and riveting conversations. If you’re a Jays fan, a baseball fan or just need something to listen to on a long drive…to deep left field….this is podcast for you! Mike Wilner and the Toronto Star WELL DONE! More conversation, more baseball, more Mike Wilner! LET’S GO BLUE JAYS!
