DRUMMERS ON DRUMMING goes beyond technique and gear, diving into the stories, influences, and perspectives that shape the world’s most compelling drummers. Hosted by Ben Hilzinger (Cannons, Eve 6) and powered by Big Fat Snare Drum, this podcast delivers honest conversations, deep insights, and unfiltered takes from the drummers who move music forward. Each episode explores what makes a drummer’s voice truly their own—whether through Big Fat Five, where guests break down the five albums, moments, or influences that defined their style, or The Drum Panel, a no-holds-barred roundtable on drumming’s most polarizing topics. Expect bold opinions, surprising connections, and an authentic look at the drumming life—on and off the kit.For more information on Big Fat Snare Drum, check out www.bigfatsnaredrum.com and follow us on Instagram.

    I love this show
Always happy to listen and I learn a ton. I’ve ended up noting so many bands/albums/tracks to listen to based on everyone’s 5 picks, and even finally picked up some BFSD products, which I’m thrilled with. Episode 9 specific: I did feel everyone’s attitude about sharing kits to be eye-opening. I’ve been gigging since 1994 and am always ok with letting someone use my bass/toms/stands. Especially now, being well into my 40s and having good gear. If I’m playing some punk club I’m happy to let some kid use my stuff. I always lay out the ground rules and have never had a problem. Sorry to make this about me!

    Awesome music podcast!
One of my favorite music focused podcasts in general (not only because I’m a drummer). Ben is a great host who brings on fantastic musicians and lets them tell their story about some of the music that has helped shape them. Every episode is fascinating and I’ve discovered a lot of new music from this podcast, and even learned new things about music I already knew. Keep up the good work, Ben!

    What makes us tick
It’s amazing to hear the moments that shaped the drumming of today’s drummers on the scene. I love to learn about these musical moments, and I can’t help but reflect on my own musical moments and how they have influenced my drumming.

    Ben is too cool
Seriously…. Ben is amazing and this podcast is top-notch. Only complaint is that there isn’t a new episode every single day.

    Great podcast!
I’m a new listener to this podcast and I really enjoy the format and seeing who influenced some of today’s best drummers. It really turned me on to a lot of new music, if you go back and check out the albums mentioned in each episode. Ben is a great host and I love using the big fat snare drum products. 🥁

    Hits the Spot!
I’ve really enjoyed this podcast so far. It scratches that often “un-itched” nerdy drummer spot in me. The hosts have great chemistry and they have plenty of combined knowledge and experience to share as both of them are/were drummers by profession. I’m looking forward to hearing more!
