A well researched, at times hilarious podcast. Two friends cover horror films in a thoughtful and well produced show.

    Great podcast
Not the biggest Horror fan, but Chris and Robert are an entertaining pair that draw in even the most casual horror fan.

A fascinating podcast. I love learning about how movies came to be and their impact on audiences. This podcast delivers.

    The Must Listen Horror Podcast
This podcast got me back into horror in such a major way! Chris and Robert provide such insightful deep dives into all things horror and horror adjacent. Each week is like catching up with old friends speaking passionately yet also critically about a genre they truly love. I’m so happy to have found them and become part of their community!

    The Sweetest of (podcasting) Dreams
This podcast is hands down my favorite in the land of commentary podcasting. I don’t often listen to much outside of audio-fiction, but Chris and Robert have a naturally engaging dynamic that makes me feel involved in the conversation in every episode. They’re fun, witty, and best of all they don’t take themselves too seriously, even if they are a bit “highfalutin”. Thanks for making this type of quality content and keep the episodes coming!

Chris and Robert do horror movie pods right!
I have been listening to the Film Flamers now for a few years, along with several other horror movie podcasts, and Chris and Robert are the only ones that have stood the test of time for me. Their format never grows tired by mixing it up with episodes that go into thoughtful deep dives on long-forgotten movies, to quick thoughts in a new release, and also relevant and interesting news on new horror movies coming out in the future. You can tell they really appreciate horror movies and all that goes into making them and they really scratch that cinephile itch for me. The Film Flamers are a cut above the rest, so if you’re sick of the same tired old horror podcasts done in the morning zoo format, try these guys out and you may find a renewed sense of love (a “nostalgia boner”if you will) for this genre of film again. 🎥 🎞️

    Oof.
Why does the one guy laugh during his entire synopsis? I started listening to the predator podcast and the one dude laughed the entire time. Not sure if this is a normal thing but this has made the whole podcast unlistenable.

    Best Horror Movie Podcast Around
Found these guys a while back while searching for a good discussion on the Alien franchise. I recently saw the new trailer for Alien: Romulus and immediately wished I could ask Chris and Robert how they felt about it. So, I figured it was time for a review. This is by far the highest quality horror movie podcast I have come across. Chris and Robert are two of the most hilarious and insightful hosts I have listened to. They helped reinvigorate my love for the genre and have introduced me to new terms that help me better understand why I fell in love with horror in the first place. Terms like the horror ghetto, gateway horror, horror adjacency etc. In addition to all the great horror discussion, these two take a lot of time to listen and connect with their community. Chris and Robert have done a great job building an awesome community of people who genuinely have insightful, and sometimes hilarious, things to say. All in all, The Film Flamers are a great choice if you’re looking for any of the things mentioned above. You will not be disappointed.

    Horror Honored Honestly
Robert and Chris really care about horror movies and honor them in the best way through this podcast. I love their approach to analyzing the themes, not tearing apart the movies to make themselves look superior, and introducing us to horror gems. Chris always has great trivia about each movie. Robert's laugh is infectious and entertaining. Both a horror connoisseur's and a horror casual watcher's podcast.

    Can't get enough!
I've been listening since the 2023 Overlook Film Festival and now I'm going through their back catalog because I can't get enough. I look foward to starting every week with Robert and Chris, who are both funny, insightful, and entertaining. I've learned to look at horror movies in a whole new way and can't wait to hear what they have to say about them (or how they will crack themselves up over some random observation).

    The GOAT!
Robert and Chris are amazing at reviewing and probing horror movies! Even hard to understand movies are wrapped up in a pretty and enjoyable package. These guys are so insightful and see things I completely miss, with remarkable specificity! The shooting the flames episodes can't be beat--Carvana heists, Muppets, and the end-of-year outtakes! Hilarious! This podcast has been putting out episodes for about five satisfying years and has good bones. I'm trying to go back and bang out all the past episodes because these guys leave me thirsty for more! Each segment thrusts the audience into really engaging intercourse on Insta and Facebook. If more people gave this a fair stroke, mayhaps it could be thrust into the top tier of movie podcasts! I'll be coming back for more! BRB--gonna buy FF merch! Boosharon!

“That’s a little bit too far ladies” “chortle chortle”
They say while discussing another podcast’s perspective on a woman’s portrayal, and the heavy tropes that exist around women and motherhood in film. Not a negative review leaver but, ouch. As men, this felt like belittling women’s perspectives on how women are portrayed - not respectful discourse… I’m new and you lost me.

    My favorite horror podcast
Chris and Robert always have me laughing out loud while I'm listening at work. Luckily I haven't been fired yet!

Love these two. Wish they would add a bit more comedy, love the humor. Have been binging at work since I discovered….

One Of The Only Podcasts That Matters
Only two podcasts matter. The Ongoing History Of New Music and The Film Flamers. That’s it. Sorry Marc, Sarah, Ira, the rest of NPR, Crooked Media, Bloody Disgusting, Real Time, Nerdist, etc. You’re all swell, and I’ll always touch base, but I only have room in my Podcast Poly heart for two. And if the day ever came where I had to be monogamous? Film Flamers, I’m all yours. Seriously though, you can’t find a more insightful, funny and entertaining horror/genre podcast out there. The hosts have excellent chemistry and overflow with enthusiasm. And if you folks are ever in San Francisco, come to Last Call in the Castro! You have several fans there, behind and at the bar!

    This podcast RULES!!
I listen to a ton of Horror movie podcasts, & I’m pretty discerning. These guys never fail to deliver! They are always incredibly thorough & insightful, not to mention HILARIOUS. This podcast probably gets my sanity questioned more than any other due to it’s ability to make me bust out laughing for seemingly no reason in public environments… & I am perfectly OK with that! Keep up the fantastic work guys!

    My brand
I’m pretty picky about podcasts but they have covered some of my all time favorite films that can be hard to find as much analysis on. Good balance of fun and depth.

My Little Sister pays it backward or is it forward still?
Hola! I was introduced to your podcast by my sister Nikki (yes THAT Nikki who was on your show) and as the one who introduced her to horror(you’re welcome) I wanted to write in to say how much I enjoy the podcast. Recently have been listening to your episode on Batman Returns and loved it. I’m and superhero and horror lover , which I bring both genres into my classes as much as possible.
  • Meowadeth
Yes it really is THAT GOOD
You don’t have to be a horror fan to appreciate how funny and insightful FF podcasts are. We are in crying laughing territory here. The hosts have educated, fair opinions backed up by cultural and technical knowledge. And it’s an absolute RIOT. You don’t even need to have watched all these movies to enjoy it. You just need to have a pulse. Probably.

    So good.
Amazing show - love these guys!

    Just No.
I’d rather shove bamboo shards under my fingernails then listen to these two talk about a movie again.

Are you a horror geek? You’ll love The Film Flamers.
The Spooky Season of Halloween is upon us. I'm listening to the horror movie podcast The Film Flamers. Co-hosts Chris and Robert combine impressive research into past horror movies with comic chatter. You can tell Chris and Robert are true horror fans and pals. As a fellow genre geek, I'm a Godzilla-sized admirer of the show.

Helped me find my love of horror again!
I found this podcast while looking up horror review podcasts and quickly found that this podcast was a level above the rest. Not only do I get to hear hilarious commentary from Chris and Robert but I’ve also learn fascinating info about movies that I otherwise, wouldn’t know. I don’t know anyone, in my life who loves horror movies like I do and after having my daughter a few years ago, I felt like I lost my horror loving identity, which was a big part of “me”. In a way, Film Flamers has not only given me back my love of horror films but also allowed me to find that part of me that I was losing. Although I can only watch horror movies at nap time, my thirst for horror has returned and I get to look forward to watching all the movies that I hear about on this podcast. Long live Debbie Jellinsky and long live Film Flamers!

    Truly adore
I love this podcast so much. So much so that I recently became a Pateron! The flow of this show makes it’s really easy and enjoyable to listen. The Hellraiser and Carrie are by far by favorite episodes (so far). Keep up the amazing work!

My favorite podcast - hands down
I decided to briefly come to the Dark Side (join iTunes) just long enough to provide a review. I love podcasts and this is by far my favorite podcast. Honest reviews, interesting trailers and horror news and insightful deep dives - all of which keep the content fresh and keep me coming back. A good friend recommended I start listening when I asked her for recommendations for horror and I can't thank her enough (Shout out Ashley!). They take suggestions and give their listeners a voice by reading comments, reviews and tweets, which makes their audience feel like they are a part of the discussion in a real way. Clearly, I'm a fan of Robert and Chris and always will be.

    Finally, an edited podcast!
I found this podcast when looking for the soundtrack for ghost in the darkness. It’s not on Spotify apparently but I was so excited to find a podcast deep diving one of my favorite childhood movies. I didn’t know what to expect but I instantly fell in love. The deep dive was great, educational and really well made. Their mics are high quality and they actually edit their podcast! I then took a deep dive into the rest of their episodes and each one, from Jaws to Rosemary’s Baby is fun and interesting. The fun facts and Roberts laugh kept me listening and after I ran out of episodes I had to join their Patreon. If you like well made podcasts you have to listen to the Film Flamers.

    Best horror pod
Informative and witty - does not disappoint! I appreciate that they talk about a wide range of horror films (and horror-adjacent!) from a variety of eras.
  • ChronicWitch
    I love this podcast!
Robert and Chris are awesome! They have great chemistry so their conversations are never boring and they bounce off each other with their wit and ideas so seamlessly. I really enjoy the variety of different content their episodes provide from deep dives to hot takes to monthly ‘Shooting The Flames’ discussing movie news and more. I also appreciate the perspective they bring in exploring all the elements of the movie such as cinematography or the film score. I have learned a lot since listening! Give them a listen!

    Love
They make horror reviews fun and funny. They dig deep when necessary and cut deep if necessary. The commentary makes you think, and laugh, and want to watch the movies they cover. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

    Film Flamin’ Fun!
The Film Flamers are an awesome duo. They bring a nice bit of comedy to their serious, deep-dive discussions of horror and horror-adjacent films all while interacting with their listeners. The Film Flamers always take it deep. They leave no stone unturned. In their deep-dives of horror films, they provide historical context along with their own social commentary which is sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, oftentimes both. This is a must-hear podcast!

Revived my iTunes for this review
The FilmFlamers is a wonderful podcast for fans of the horror genre. Chris and Robert offer entertaining and often humorous reviews, commentary, analysis, and trivia. The tone is light, but never dull. If you like the horror genre, you must subscribe to "The Film Flamers."

Make it part of your regular rotation
I've been subscribed for a while and love both their dicussions of individual movies as well as them "shooting the flames" to keep me up to date on what's new and what they've been watching. Highly recommend for fans of horror (and fans of movies in general).

    Scary movies with friends
I found this podcast on a whim while looking for podcasts that deep dived into Dawn of the Dead (1985). The hosts are pretty funny, I really enjoy their dark sense of humor. Their film analysis isn’t too deep, if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s mostly two friends giving their personal takes on horror movies, along with humor sprinkled in. Just fun, easy listening.

    Love this Podcast
If you love horror movies you must check out The Film Flamers podcast. Robert and Chris are great, funny, and very entertaining. Give it go
Robert & Chris cover give each movie they discuss a fair shake and cover every aspect of it, from cast to score to cinematography, not just a plot walk through like many other movie podcasts. Their love for the genre is clear and even if I don't agree with their opinions about some of the movies, I still enjoy listening.
  • AgentMacky
    Highly recommend
In all verisimilitude, I forgot about them rediscovered this awesome pod. The subjects are always interesting and the hosts made me revisit Alien after many years. Keep up the great work.

A National Treasure in Film Review
Fast, smart, witty, informative, never boring and far and away better than any peer podcast. Truly professional and palpable on-air host chemistry - the perfect juxtaposition between Chris’ film savoir faire and Robert’s horror fan cred. Never limited or confined by its horror genre faithfulness but always informed by it. Who knew the horror genre was this important to film - I guess the film flamers did. 🤔 I feel like you guys are 5-minutes from stardom - we’ll always be able to say we remember you when. As there are no small parts, there are no small podcasts. You’re already stars to your fans. 🤩 A Nightmare on Elm Street - 80’s nostalgia galore and abounding in Freddy folklore - Robert, deny us your expertise no longer! (Halloween? 🤫) Jurassic Park - PG-13 horror at its finest and a horror score for the ages, Chris. Forever incomplete until the Film Flamers give us their deep dive. (Which apparently will happen this August! 🤣) Happy 40th Robert! 🎂

Let’s hear it for the boys
Chris and Robert are delightful hosts. They are so funny and have struck a really great balance between serious topics and levity.
  • jwford
    What a joke!
Hosts think Eli Roth is a “visionary,” and his first two films are “groundbreaking.” But, Jordan Peele’s Us was disappointing? Don’t waste your time. They can’t be trusted.

    A Bloody Good Time
I started listening with the Stranger by the Lake episode, and was doubley delighted that the hosts Robert and Chris were gay and also from Dallas. Felt like the podcast was made specifially for me. From Top 10 lists, to hot takes and throwback episodes, their content is varied and always fun. On a side note, I've listened to other film podcasts with queer hosts, and R&C's positive attitudes and laughter are refreshing.

    Thoroughly entertaining!
I just started listening to this podcast and have been enjoying it very much. Black Christmas (1974) is my favorite movie and their recent review did it great justice. These guys definitely love horror! I look forward to your next podcast as well as catching up with past ones.

I Feel Like I Know These Guys
Every episode is a gem. These guys are both knowledgeable and funny, and as a former horror movie podcast host, I appreciate the fact that they release their episodes on a schedule and stick to it. The “Black Christmas” episode was probably my favorite.
  • Ghostface91!
    One of my favorite podcasts
I listen to a few podcasts, but there are only a couple that I genuinely anticipate and get excited for each week, this one of them. Robert and Chris are great hosts with a great love for the genre. I love their deep dives into particular films, different horror themes, as well as their top favorite lists. I also love when they go over upcoming horror releases and news, as well as what they’ve watched as well as their opinions on them. They are also really great to their fans/listeners and are always willing to listen what they have to say and are respectful of others viewpoints. And plus, the two are just hilarious hosts even when they’re just making each other laugh.
